Pixon Factory Rooftop Solar Power Plant – 1 MW

Introduction

At PIXON, renewable energy is not just a product offering; it is a practice the company actively pursues. As part of its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, PIXON installed a 1 MW rooftop solar power plant at its own factory premises.

This project reflects PIXON’s intent to reduce dependence on conventional power sources while demonstrating how industrial rooftops can be effectively utilized for clean energy generation. The installation was carefully planned to ensure high energy output, minimal disruption to factory operations, and complete compliance with safety standards.

Challenges Faced

Implementing a large rooftop solar project in a working factory environment posed several practical challenges.

  • One of the primary concerns was achieving maximum power generation without altering or damaging the existing rooftop structure. Maintaining the factory’s overall appearance and functionality was equally important.
  • Another major challenge involved working at height, which required special attention to worker safety. Since the factory continued normal operations during installation, ensuring smooth coordination without affecting daily production was critical.
  • Additionally, the project demanded strict compliance with industrial safety norms and installation standards throughout every phase of execution.

PIXON addressed these challenges through detailed planning, strong engineering support, and disciplined execution.

A 1068 kW rooftop solar system was installed using PIXON Mono PERC 545 Wp modules, selected for their efficiency and long-term reliability. The system layout was optimized to fully utilize the available 69,496 sq. m. rooftop area, ensuring consistent and high energy output.

To manage safety risks, comprehensive preventive measures were implemented on-site. Trained personnel, proper safety equipment, and continuous supervision ensured safe working conditions at all times.

The plant was also equipped with Wi-Fi-enabled remote monitoring, allowing performance tracking and operational control in real time. The project was completed without a single safety incident, setting a strong example for large-scale rooftop installations.

Results Achieved

The factory rooftop solar plant has delivered strong results across operational, financial, and environmental parameters.

  • The system now generates approximately 4,000 kWh of electricity per day, significantly reducing dependence on grid power. On an annual basis, it produces nearly 1.46 million units, providing long-term energy cost stability.
  • With a payback period of 2.5 to 3 years and an ROI exceeding 25%, the project has proven to be financially sound. The cost of power generation stands at around ₹1.1 per unit, resulting in substantial savings on electricity expenses.
  • From an environmental perspective, the project helps avoid approximately 1,400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, equivalent to saving 33,135 trees. This reinforces PIXON’s commitment to responsible manufacturing and sustainable growth.
